The Roulette Wheel

The American wheel has 38 numbers. This is because they have added a double zero (00) to the wheel. The Layout of Numbers on the Roulette Table

Roulette Table Layouts have two betting areas. The inside betting area is the area which contains the individual numbers. The outside betting area is the area which contains all the other boxes for betting on the columns, odd/even and red/black and the numbered groups.

The numbers on the Layout a arranged into 3 numbers of 12 rows. The 0 (zero) and 00 (double zero) are located at the top of the columns.

Colored Chips

When you sit down at a roulette table you have the option of purchasing special colored chips for your play.

You do not have to purchase these chips, you can usually always use the standard casino chips. However on occasion you may place a chip on a number and someone else may think its there chip and their win and confusion can result

To prevent this, if you are going to be sitting at the table for a while playing your system then it is advisable to purchase a specific color. As only one person at any table at that time will have that color, so all wins will automatically be returned to you as your the only person with that color at the table. Inside Bets

An inside bet is a bet placed on any of the numbers on the table. You can either place the chip straight up on the number or you can straddle the chips between two or more numbers on the board.

Straddling means you can place a chip on a line between two numbers, or the intersecting lines of 3 or four numbers. The more numbers you cover the more you odds of winning increases, but also the less you will win in return.

 

Outside Bets

An outside bet is a bet that is placed on any of the boxes which exist around the inside numbers. This includes the boxes for the columns, the red and black, the numbers and any other box.

Payout's for Inside Bets:

Straight Up

If you place a single chip straight up on any single number and that number comes out, it pays 35 to 1.


Split Bet

if you place a single chips between two numbers, such as 17-20 this is called a straddle. If either of these two numbers come up then you will receive 17 to 1 on your wager.

 

Columns - line bet or Dozens

This is where you place a chip in the boxes at the end of the columns or the boxes next to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Dozen. This will pay you 11 to 1 on your wager if any of these numbers come up.


Corner bet or Quad bet

This is a straddle over the intersection of four corners of four numbers. Such as numbers 1,2,4 and 5, If any of these numbers come up it pays 8 to 1.


Basket bet

This bet covers all five number is a five numbers at the tip of the American Table. Covering numbers 1 to 3 and the zero and double zero. This pays 6 to 1.

On the American Double Zero wheel this particular bet is the worst bet in roulette. As this increases the house edge to 7.89 percent. Which is another reason why this bet is made available to you.

 

Street bet

This is where you place a chip over the line separating the outside and inside area of the table. The chip is placed to cover 3 numbers on the inside area

 

Double Street

This is the same as for the Standard Single Street Bet except you also cover the line above or below. This bet is is a wager on a total of six numbers and pays 5 to 1. .

 

Payout's for Outside Bets:

Red Black Odd and Even

These are all even money bets. You place your chips in the boxes on the layout.


Dozens bet

This are made on the 12 consecutive numbers. You place your wager in the boxes marked 1-12, 13-24 or 25-36. These bets pay 2 to 1. If the zero or double zero comes up you lose.


Column bets

These are also 12 number bets. Instead of 12 consecutive numbers they consist of the numbers in one of the three vertical columns and are made in the boxes at the bottom of the layout. These bets pay 2 to 1 as well.

 

 

Playing Tips

Roulette has a high house edge but there are also many systems available which can help to increase you chances of winning.

On average you can usually expect around 30 spins an hour which is intended to increase you enjoyment for the game thus slowing down the amount you expose over a short period.

You are permitted to place your chips on the top of existing chips on the board. No-one owns any number are areas on the board and you can place your chips where ever you want.
